Viareggio Italy

After playing with the idea of spending (even more) time in Italy and learning Italiano, I have finally picked my school and registered.

I will be staying in Viareggio for 4 weeks starting on October 10th.

I know this area well, and it will be good for training. Knowing the training ground is certainly a comfort. The weather.... ok, I admit that it was a deciding factor as well. :) Viareggio is a typical tourism centered beach town, although I will luckily be there after the height of season.

You are lucky!!!! Italy is fantastic. In May i was twice, in Genova (in the north) and in Lecce and Otranto(in the south). Lecce is an incredible baroque city and Otranto is a beautiful town on the coast...I wish I was there :-(

Have fun

Hola Kepa!!

I agree, Italy is wonderful. I continue to find excuses to go back again and again. I have spent a little time in Genova but haven't spent much time up north. In fact there is so much of Italy that I haven't seen. Last year when I ran the Giro trip we followed the Adriatic coast from Ravenna, going through Padova, Trieste and then into Slovania and Crotia. Crotia was amazing! That is one place that I wold like to return to. The Crotian landscape shows the wear of thousands of year of civilization and use yet still remains beautiful.
The Dolomites are also stunning! The only negative thing about Italy is the traffic.
So I am guessing that you teach at the univeristy in Leioa? Both my cousin and her husband are professors there. That is where I went to school back in '99. The universities here are so different from those in the states, but I have good memories of my year there.
So yes, we should most definately meet soon. I am going to Madrid for the week to do some trip planning for our Vuelta trip but after that we should make plans. A hike sounds wonderful!

I envy you. ;-) You travel a lot and you can see so many beautiful places!!! I love to travel. When I was younger i had time but i did not have money. Now I have money but no time or friends to go with (beacuse my friends do not have money.....this is crazy!!!!) and I hate travel alone.

You are right, the trafic in Italy is incredible. Last year a was in Naples and it was really dangerous.

I do not teach jejejejej, i just do research (I analyse antique artworks). This weekend I will be in the Pyrenees, but the following weekend i am free and from August 6 i am on hollydays. I will start to think in a place to go according to your likes and dislikes (forests, rivers, caves, go to the top of a mountain, how many hours do you want to walk....):
